Volunteers

Volunteering is about more than just giving your time — it’s about making a real difference, connecting with others, and being part of something bigger. Along the way, you’ll meet new people, share your skills, and know that what you’re doing is changing lives right here in our community.

Powered by Volunteers

The Launceston Benevolent Society has always been powered by volunteers. We’re proud to have around 40 incredible people who, together, contribute over 10,000 hours of their time each year. Their passion and dedication are at the heart of everything we do.

Volunteer Stories

Jenny started volunteering with us 6 weeks ago. As part of our on-boarding process we ask that volunteers come in a do a shift on each day of the week, over their month of training. This gives them the opportunity to meet all of our volunteers and find a group that they gel with and would like to spend some time with. Jens first day, she was sure she wanted to do that day, her next week she then loved working with this day. By the time she had finished her training she loved working on any day. Her remark was ‘I’ll work any day; everyone is awesome we all have fun’

Margie has been a wonderful volunteer with LBS for 14 years. She plays an important role in helping clients find the clothing that fits their needs, and she also supports the team by sorting and organizing clothing donations. For Margie, one of the best parts of her day is spending time with the other volunteers—being part of a friendly, supportive community that works together every week.

Volunteering with LBS has been especially rewarding for her. She truly enjoys seeing the look of thanks in people’s eyes when we’re able to help them out. And she’s not just involved—Margie is fully committed to the mission. She lives the purpose of LBS because we don’t sell items; we give the clothes to our clients at no charge.

Margie would recommend volunteering with us to anyone who wants to give their time and make a real difference. We’re so grateful for her dedication, her kindness, and the countless ways she has helped clients and supported this organization over the years.

Thank you Margie, you bring a spark to Mondays 😃

Give your time. Give hope.

and we’d be honoured to have you on the team.
