Our Values
In recognition of the deep history and culture of this Island, we acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the land upon which we live and work. We acknowledge and pay our respects to all Tasmanian Aboriginal Communities; all of whom have survived invasion and dispossession, and who continue to maintain their identity, culture and connection to country.
The Launceston Benevolent Society stands for human rights, social justice, integrity and respect for all people.
We recognise the social determinants of health and well-being, and the role they play in shaping people’s lives. We support efforts to address these underlying factors and encourage policies that reduce disadvantage and create stronger, more equitable communities.
Our Vision
Our goal is to provide more than just food to those who need it, but to break the cycle of poverty. To make sure that everyone who reaches out for support is treated with the dignity they deserve, to walk away from our doors feeling that much better about themselves, because someone cared. That all we were able to help them in some way, whether that be food, clothing, toiletries or maybe just a loaf of bread. Sometimes all it takes to change someone’s life is to be treated with respect.
